Very pleased to meet you all.
I have been researching the Chinese culture for over 10 years now and I have found it extremely intresting.
Currently I work in the IT industry fulltime and I’m attending Virtual College part time. I also have a wife and 3 children so I am pretty busy but never too busy to learn more (especially about something I have always wanted to learn about.
I hope to continue my studies here as the classes offered are all things I have hoped to learn.
Thank you for offering them and I will do my best to be a good student. -

Hi Rick,
Welcome. I hope you enjoy the classes.
Sounds like you have a similar background as myself.

By similar backgrounds I assume you are an IT person.
I also guess you have been studying Chinese culture.
I have been studying Eastern mysticism for around 10 years (there was not much available until the last 5 years or so here).
I have been involved in marital arts for almost 40 years and a Wing Tsun instructor for over 20 years. I also teach Qigong and several other styles of Chinese Gong Fu.
Taoist meditation has been a focus of my studies as of late. The Taoist Canon has not been fully translated but I have been able to get my hands on bits and pieces. I find all Chinese lore extremely fascinating and have tried many of its methods with great success.
I took the Face Reading class over the weekend and found it very informative. I will be putting the information to good use on my friends, family, and students shortly to enable the practical use of the knowledge I have learned.
Do you have any recommendations for further study in Eastern Mysticsim?
Thank you for your time. -

Hi Rick,
Yes, we are both IT folks with an appreciation of Asian studies. I have been studying Feng Shui and Chinese Astrology for going on 12 years now. I am also a practicing Buddhist. You can see my site at http://www.chrisshaul.com for more of my interests etc.
As to studies, I recommend if you haven’t already, read Heaven and Earth in Early Han Thought. This is a good book on early Chinese cosmology and it ties to Feng Shui and Astrology.
Speaking of Astrology, I understand that we are close to having the Zi Wei Dou Shu classes ready for our Online Curriculum. When those come online, I recommend them.
Best wishes,

Would you happen to be a Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist?
Thank you for the link to the book and your website.
I do a lot of IT stuff. My passion is multimedia. I am a trained video person doing everything from concept to finished product. I can bust things into most any format as well.
My job entails working with Oracle, Cisco networks, Frankensteining junk computers, working on and troubleshooting underwater pit tag detection antennas, video, and wireless data transfer. I also do multimedia promos, desktop publishing, graphics and animation, security, all kinds of fun stuff.
Once again, it is my pleasure to make your aquaintance.
